Aaron
“Are you coming on Halloween?” Gregory asked, flipping a chicken breast on the grill and casting a glance in Aaron’s direction.
“You should,” Landon piped up from across the table. He lifted his beer to his lips and smirked before taking a drink.
“Should I?”
Aaron hadn’t put much thought into Halloween. He’d never been big on holidays of any sort after all the moving he’d done as a kid. It had been hard to make friends, so events where you were supposed to spend time with friends hadn’t ever appealed to him.
“I hear Verity is working on a stellar costume,” Landon answered.
Verity had been working on something, of that Aaron knew. They’d barred Aaron from their house, choosing to spend more time there than they had previously before making their way to Aaron’s before bed.
It had been a rocky couple of weeks, that was for sure. The time had blurred together though, into one glorious and hazy muddle of nights spent wrapped in Verity’s beautiful limbs. They were still working on the kinks of how their day-to-day interactions went, and that was fine. Aaron relished getting to know Verity outside of whatever games they wanted to play behind closed doors.
Even though Aaron had already known Verity was a champion at directing attention off of themself and onto anyone else, Aaron had chipped away at that defense, learning more about Verity’s life in Polo as a kid, raising goats, going to a high school with a population of under one-hundred, then deciding to move to New York for college.
Verity had been less dodgy when they’d opened up about their relationship with Landon and the way it had developed. That surprised Aaron, as to him it seemed like so many of Verity’s hesitations and concerns could be traced back to the routine they’d fallen into with Landon. Aaron wouldn’t ever say as much, though. That was between Verity and Landon.
Aaron looked up, studying Landon, wondering what he would have been like as an aimless college freshman. He still struggled to understand what Gregory saw in him sometimes, but he assumed the same could be said by outsiders who observed him and Verity together.
On the surface, all they did was bicker. Aaron shooting out barbs that Verity pushed away with an unmatched ease. At least, that’s how things had been until recently.
Aaron stroked his thumb over his wrist, rubbing at the thin rubber band Verity had slipped over his fingers. He didn’t snap it. Only Verity snapped it. When they were annoyed, generally. Aaron didn’t like it, but it made his cock hard to see Verity take that position with him, and over the past weeks, he’d been growing to see the appeal of submission.
“They won’t let me come over,” Aaron answered, working the thin rubber between his thumb and forefinger. “So I’m sure it’s good.”
“They may not let you over, but you’re still seeing them.” Landon arched an eyebrow.
“Of course I am,” Aaron answered.
He saw them at least every other night. They’d have dinner, watch TV, something mundane in lieu of dancing around the delicate power exchange between them.
